Hello fellow boomers and readers of all ages!

It is my goal to guide you through the sixties. Together, we will journey back in time and visit the decade of my youth, 1960 through 1969. I will, if at all possible, try to avoid all political subjects and other depressing stuff. Instead I will reminisce on such heady fare as soda fountains, comics, 45's and albums, trading cards, summer vacations, and the like.

For those of you too young to live through those times, or for those of you who were just too wasted to remember them, I hope to give you some insight, sometimes in a humorous fashion, of my experiences in that decade.

I will talk about coping in today's world. I will attempt to give out some common sense advice and tips on everything from computer hardware and software to protecting your record album collection. I will also review some of the  DVD movies and music CDs currently on the market, plus new releases. I will  must warn you that these reviews are quite opinionated and based solely on entertainment value.

Please feel free to e-mail me with any comments, personal observations, or advice. I want and welcome your input on matters past and present.

Please bear in mind that my recollections are from growing up in the northeast section of Baltimore, Maryland. That means lots of row homes and alleys, some shopping centers scattered about, a few schools nearby, and a woods within walking distance.

I would love to hear from baby boomers who spent their youth in the same type of environment, or in small towns, farms, or any place in-between.

Please feel free to write me on any subject, concerning the 60's or today. You are certainly welcome to comment on my DVD and CD reviews. I won't take it personally if you don't like something I say, or vise-versa.I will try my best to entertain you with stories of the past. I will also attempt to provide some common sense advice for living in today's world.

The Archive Pages will be updated several times a month. The DVD movies and CD music review sections will be updated weekly. I will also, from time to time, be adding new writings on all subjects, both past and present. Currently in the CD and DVD reviews archives, I have posted my favorite releases of 2007 in both categories.

I promise not to bore you with serious subjects if I can help it. We all know John F. Kennedy was assassinated in that  era, then there was the Vietnam War. Speaking of Vietnam, I'd like to add that I spent the summer of love, 1967, there. My friends from that experience will never be forgotten.

In closing, allow me to say that my goal is to entertain, or to give advice in an entertaining and helpful manner. This is a new site. Please be patient while we grow.

All material on this site, including grammatical errors and misspellings, is written by me, Randy Mixter, unless otherwise stated. Just so you know who to blame.

             THIS MONTH'S FEATURE

        SOME CHANGES ON OUR SITE

Starting this month, Life in the Sixties will revert back to its original format, which is my blogs about growing up in the sixties. Any future writings on technical issues such as computer tips and advice, will be posted on my Annapolis Digital site.  http://www.annapolisdigital.com/

My goal on this site is simple. I will write stories about my past, and , on occasion, about my present. Hopefully they will be entertaining and humorous. As time goes on, I will delve into the later years of that decade, including my time in the army and my year in Vietnam. But before then, I still have some growing up to do. This month's blog is about sewer pipe exploration. If you're not sure what that is, check it out..

I will continue to review movie DVDs and music CDs from time to time, and on occasion give some media advice and tips.

I might add that I appreciate the loyalty of my frequent visitors. A few have asked about the possibility of an e-book with all the 60s blogs included. I am currently working on that project, and will keep you posted on new developments.
